A worn component does not automatically indicate an unsuitable material. Contact conditions, alignment and service duration belong in the investigation.
Record the damage pattern
Document installation position, service duration and affected surfaces. Comparison parts and photographs can reveal recurring patterns. Without context, replacement is possible but reliable diagnosis is difficult.
Review the assembly
Check alignment, mating surfaces and intended operating conditions against documentation. Loads or movement may have changed after a modification. Assess material choice alongside equipment condition.
Evaluate changes traceably
Before a material change, assess effects on function and interfaces. Monitor the replacement over a suitable period under comparable conditions. A documented history is necessary to judge whether wear performance has improved.
