Introduction
RegerVision is an industrial digitalization platform designed to enhance the monitoring and control of engineering processes.
It enables seamless interaction between operators, engineers, and control systems, creating a unified environment for industrial data visualization, maintenance coordination, and performance optimization.
Key Features
- Real-Time Plant Monitoring: Live dashboards display temperature, pressure, and flow parameters collected from IoT devices and PLCs.
- Maintenance Workflow: Integrated task boards allow technicians to manage inspections, preventive maintenance, and fault reports efficiently.
- Automated Alerts: MQTT-based event streaming notifies engineers of abnormal readings or equipment shutdowns instantly.
- Performance Analytics: Built-in data visualization highlights production trends, energy efficiency, and predictive maintenance indicators.
Technical Insights
- Frontend: Developed with React + TypeScript, ensuring responsive industrial dashboards and operator-friendly user interfaces.
- Backend: Built on Node.js (Express) microservices to handle telemetry ingestion, authentication, and report generation.
- Database: PostgreSQL manages equipment logs, maintenance data, and system metrics using optimized relational schemas.
- Cloud Integration: Deployed through AWS EC2 for compute, S3 for data storage, and IoT Core for real-time sensor communication.
- Security: Includes encrypted data channels, role-based access, and audit logging for compliance with IEC and ISO industrial standards.
- CI/CD Pipeline: Continuous testing and deployment automate system updates while maintaining production uptime.
Challenges and Solutions
- High-Frequency Data Streams: Introduced buffered MQTT brokers and async message queues to manage large-scale telemetry inputs.
- Scalability: Deployed modular microservices to scale independently across departments and production units.
- Operator Safety: Implemented multi-level user permissions ensuring only authorised personnel can override control parameters.
Outcome
RegerVision was successfully rolled out across multiple industrial testbeds, providing plant engineers with unified visibility and faster diagnostic capabilities.
It significantly reduced system downtime and improved collaboration between the engineering and operations teams, establishing a foundation for data-driven industrial decision-making at Reger Engineering GmbH.
