Manufacturing method selection depends on geometry, material and required quality. Volume and later assembly also influence the decision.
Capture complete requirements
Describe functional surfaces, tolerances, material and planned volume. A method suitable for a prototype may require different arrangements for series production. Agree geometry changes with the design team.
Consider the full sequence
Include fixturing, finishing and inspection alongside machining. A fast individual operation may add later tasks. A meaningful comparison requires methods to meet the same quality criteria.
Include assembly
Check whether manufactured parts work in the intended assembly. Access and interfaces can change the assessment. A documented trial assembly connects manufacturing results to eventual use.
